Final stage.......... We did it....
Our Jayco Starcraft outback caravan and Ford Ranger performed even better than we anticipated and still both look new............. story and pictures to come........................but in the mean time check out our "100 Days on the road" on our Midcoast 4WD Centre "FACEBOOK" page................
Stage 2... Strengthening of cupboards
Darren has been busy putting extra screws in cupboards and strengthening the cupboards in the corners. I have been busy bubble wrapping glass items in the cupboards and putting those soft flexible tubs in all cupboards so items stand upright and won't rub on the inside of the cupboard or fall over. We also have a packing up checklist for when on the road as you can never be too careful when it comes to locking up the van ready to hit the road. Too many times we have seen Caravans on the road with awnings loose or windows flopping in the breeze. Another important thing we have done is keep the weight of everything in the van as evenly distributed as we could and keeping the drawers with cuttlery etc as light as possible and only taking what we really need as there are so many shops out and about in Australia these days as we do like to support the little outback shops too. Darren & I have had many an outback adventure touring Australia with our old Pajero and our Patrol of 3 years with the Ironman roof top tent but as next year is our 25th Wedding Anniversary we thought we would travel in style and comfort this time with our Jayco Starcraft Outback we have had for over a year and our Aurora Blue Ford Ranger PX. As many others out there worry about taking their caravan on this venture we thought we would document our "Desert Proofing" and hopefully aid others in their adventures too.

STAGE 1: "Desert Proofing" outside our Jayco Starcraft Outback caravan....
Our Caravan looks serious now with the Rhino Lining (a full polyurathene membrane) the "Tuff Stuff" now completed including underneath the van, the step, the draw bar, half way up the front of the van, the arch above the tyres on both sides and the gas cover also along with the rear bumber. Not only does this look great this is to prevent stone damage, rust, wear & tear and dust and water getting into the van from underneath. Check out the photo's before and after.....
